3-1

welcome to world 3, themed around all sorts of amusement park stuff. i will say, these are some of my favorite levels in the game.

our first level in world 3 takes place in a theme park during the day, which i've decided to call MuuMuu Land. actually, have i talked about the MuuMuus yet? i don't think i have. let's fix that injustice.

the MuuMuu are these cute little squid guys who are a recurring species in the Jumping Flash! series. they have palm trees on their heads, and it's never quite clear whose side they're on. sometimes they're nice to Robbit, and sometimes they're working with Aloha, it's kinda hard to tell. either way, they are really cute, and they even ended up getting their own spinoff game, Pocket MuuMuu, which utilized the PocketStation accessory. don't know what that is? i don't blame you, honestly.

listen, if you're deep enough into this series that you're reading this, im sure you know what a VMU is. the PocketStation is pretty much that, except for the PS1. the two actually launched mere months apart, with the Dreamcast launching in November of 1998, while the PocketStation came out in January of 1999. a few games used the device, such as Doko Demo Issyo, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, Grandia, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, and of course, Pocket MuuMuu. and despite its Japan exclusivity, PocketStation support actually snuck its way into some North American releases, like Ridge Racer Type 4, Final Fantasy VIII and SaGa Frontier 2. now, what does all this have to do with Jumping Flash!?

absolutely nothing! let's move on. i really love a lot of the set pieces in this world, tons of fun activities going on from toy train sets...

...to hot air balloons floating in the sky...

...to this super cute arch of books. so much creativity going on, augh, i love it.

and that about wraps up 3-1. buckets of fun going on here, and it only ramps up as we get further into world 3.
